Custom Brass Piece Production Timeline
So you've signed off on the design for your custom brass pieces — candle holders, decorative hardware, whatever it is. Now the clock starts, and honestly, most delays happen because buyers don't know what each stage takes.
First comes tooling. If your design needs a new mold or casting die, expect two to four weeks just for that. Sand casting dies are quicker; investment casting tooling takes longer. Rush this and you pay for it later.
Next is the sample. About one to two weeks after tooling, sometimes faster. Don't skip this step. Check the weight, the finish, the threads, everything. One revision round is normal and adds another week or so.
Once you approve the sample, mass production runs roughly three to five weeks depending on quantity. A few thousand pieces move faster than you'd think; tens of thousands need more casting, machining and plating slots.
Plating deserves its own mention. PVD and electroplating lines often serve multiple factories, so your pieces wait in a queue. Budget seven to ten days.
Then QC and packing take a few days. Good suppliers send photos or a third-party inspection report before anything ships.
Finally, freight. Sea shipping to the US or Europe runs three to five weeks; air freight takes days but costs a lot.
Add it all up and you're looking at roughly eight to twelve weeks door to door. Two things mess this up most: slow feedback from the buyer side, and Chinese holiday shutdowns, especially around National Day and Chinese New Year. Reply fast, book freight early, and the timeline holds.
